Digital Photo Displays Digital photo displays are electronic devices that can project pictures on their digital screen. The pictures can operate as slideshow in given time intervals. This gives an advantage to the user, as pictures do not need to be printed out. Normal picture frames do not come with slideshows, neither background lights nor can they enhance a room’s attractiveness like digital frames does. They mostly display pictures in JPEG format. The images can directly be uploaded from a camera or a computer. New models are also able to send images directly to printers using Bluetooth technology. They can also play multimedia contents. Digital photo displays come with memory cards. Some of the displays even come with USB connections. Most can play MPEGs, MP3s and can also use Internet technology through an RSS feeds feature. In some cases, they include rechargeable batteries as well. Most 8-inch digital picture frames have 800 x 600 resolutions. Different brands have different functions and features. For instance, Fidelity Electronics’ digital photo displays are made of stylish acrylic and black wood frames, have a remote control, a build-in internal memory of 128MB, play videos and sound and also display a clock and calendar. Other models such as Fidelity Electronics’ 10-inch digital photo display have remote including a Wi-Fi feature with internal memory. Fidelity Electronics also has an additional option of printing and could cost around $200 compared to $180 or so of the 8-inch displays. Although the price and modifications depend on the manufacturers, there are some cheap digital picture frames available in the market as cheap as $10. Digital photo displays mainly consist of three parts: An LCD display panel that is a liquid crystal display; a printed circuit board (PCB) that connects to the electrical components and an outside frame that can be of various colors and shapes depending on the designs of the picture frame. The most attractive part of a digital photo display can be its LCD display. Most LCD panels are flat and thin and could save lots of space unlike the typical monitor screens. The reason why they are much more attractive compared to conventional photo frames is that they have the ability to slideshow pictures and display images that can be transferred quickly by the help of a USB or Bluetooth technology. As the technology is comparatively new, digital photo frames are not yet considered as suitable as frames to be hanging in homes or offices. This is because many people still feel that the traditional classic look of the old frames is the best way to hang a picture. This situation is bound to change in the near future. Future designs will provide greater dimensions and more features.
