Do You Get More Sales from the Net? ($608 million in online sales)

By: AC

Getting sales from the net is what online marketing retailers are focusing. With reduced operating costs and added sales revenue, bricks-and-mortar stores are taking advantage of online retailing. Gian Fulgoni, chairman at comScore, Reston, VA even said that bricks-and-mortar stores are getting much more aggressive in their online marketing efforts this season, particularly during Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. “Cyber Monday sales beat Black Friday's, earning $608 million on Nov. 27 compared with $434 million last Friday, said a survey from market researcher comScore Networks.” (DMNews) With that said you can just imagine millions of dollars using online sales. (See Cyber Monday definition, “The term Cyber Monday refers to the Monday immediately following Black Friday, the ceremonial kick-off of the holiday online shopping season in the United States between Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. Whereas Black Friday is associated with traditional brick-and-mortar stores, "Cyber Monday" symbolizes a busy day for online retailers, and one in which online stores offer low prices and promotions.” Wikipedia)
Consider the top online shopping destinations on Cyber Monday to have a glimpse of how their online sales are doing. According to Nielsen//NetRatings (NASDAQ: NTRT), a global leader in Internet media and market research, eBay, Amazon and Wal-Mart Stores’s Walmart.com are the top three online destinations with 7.4 million, 3.4 million and 3.2 million unique audience-UA. (See Table 1.Top 10 Online Shopping Destinations on Black Friday 2006-U.S. home only) The top 10 online shopping destinations are also the key contributors to the $608 million in online sales.

Clearly ebay is the top contributor of having unique audiences that contributes to the $608 online sales. With that assumption, think of Nielsen//NetRatings market research on the top 10 online shopping destinations as an integration on the analysis of what kinds of customer service each of the top 10 shopping destinations have to offer that contribute so much to their unique audience and sales revenue taking aside the nearing holiday seasons.

Table 2. Top 10 Online Shopping Destination’s Customer Service Availability

From table 2 ebay has a unique customer service of live chat as compared to other online shopping destinations. Aside from ebay being famous among online shoppers, we can assume that having an added live chat customer service contributes to 7.4 million unique audiences. Online shoppers would definitely want the convenience of having a real time sales agent attending to his needs as a bricks-and-mortar stores would have.
With $608 million in online sales on November 27 alone, we need not ask if you get more sales from the net. The number alone can attest how much more you could earn from the net. Getting more sales from the net is the reason why more and more online marketing retailers are increasing.
