Veterinary Nurse, who is also called veterinary technician, is a profession that offers rewarding career opportunities and lucrative income for people who have real concern on animals' welfare and healthcare. A vet nurse usually assists the veterinarian in performing medical test and clinical procedures in the work place. They have played in important role in promoting animals' health. Although this profession seems to be an ideal career choice for animal lovers, there are a few drawbacks to consider before making your decision to be a vet nurse. In fact, it can be a risky career. Most of the time, a vet tech must perform tasks that expose them to certain risks which may put them in dangerous situation. One of the main tasks of a vet nurse is to restrain the animals that are in anger or comfort the frightened animals. They are in fact at risk of being scratched or bitten by the animals since they are so close to the animals. The chance of being hurt by their patients are high. Besides that, the vet techs always provide treatments to sick animals that are infected by diseases. They are responsible in collecting urine and blood for medical test. They are also responsible in providing injections and surgery to animals. Besides, they also need to clean the cages and the exam room. They are actually exposing themselves to all sorts of viruses. They are facing the risk of being infected by diseases. For those vet nurses who are not physically fit and healthy, they may get sick easily and frequently. The work of the vet nurses is hectic. They have to work in long hours especially during emergency. Their health will be affected in the long run when they are always lack of sufficient rest and have to work in stress. Vet nurse is indeed a fun profession especially for those pet lovers. However, the risks that come together with this career should be minimized as much as possible for the health and safety purpose.
