Minnesota is certainly not a place for casinos and theme parks but a place of natural splendor and beauty that many a city dweller would love to escape to. If you love outdoors you will love Minnesota and truly enjoy the experience. You can go hiking, biking, boating, and choose from a host of other outdoor activities all across the great state. A thousand pristine lakes abound this area of wilderness. Some of these crystal clear lakes may even allow opportunities for water skiing and not just swimming, fishing and boating. To preserve the natural beauty of the lakes, motorized boats may not be allowed in certain lakes. Canoe enthusiasts from the world over love to try their skills on the complex and challenging waterways in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. But for those not interested in taking a canoe trip, there are still plenty of campgrounds, resorts, and lodges in the area that make for perfect retreats from the madness of the rat race. Minnesota is home to a wide range of wildlife which is also another big draw for visitors. It is completely possible to see moose, bears, wolves, deer, eagles, and even those crazy loons during your stay in Minnesota. If you do not happen to see what you are looking for in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, there are more isolated and remote regions where such wildlife flourishes. Minnesota is definitely not a "glitz and glamour" kind of state. Its residents tend to be down to earth and true lovers of Nature and the splendor of the natural world which is probably why they have done such a remarkable job preserving their state. Fortunately for the rest of us, we can visit this natural splendor and bring back with us memories that will last a lifetime.
