The players have more resemblance with the actual players, which is probably something that will set it apart from competitors. Other aspects of the game that now sports a more polished look are the defense animation and most of the action sequences. As for the overall gameplay, PES 09 has given more emphasis on the ball, which is really an essential factor in this game. Among those that developers have worked on is the physics of the ball in order that it will independently respond to any physical contact.
