PES 2009 will attempt to brush aside the negative reputation of last year's release and redeem the series as a new game will soon arrive. Konami certainly failed to deliver last time but Pro Evo Soccer 2009 is looking to win back football fans. Konami will try to make use of current-gen game technology to produce a more efficient game by improving its gameplay elements. Aside from increasing the level of intensity for this game, the visual and gameplay enhancements that this game is set to deliver will hopefully increase its realistic aspect as well. The most apparent enhancement is the menu system, which is comparably easier to navigate and control. A more manageable menu navigation control will certainly assist to perfectly execute run plays or handling the ball in PES 09. In connection with this, there is also the Manual Control mode that extends your level of control for this game. Meanwhile, the Teamvision AI System has been given a boost which makes for an excellent feature in Pro Evo Soccer 09. Now, you have to work on finding good positions if you want to secure the ball from your teammates. Therefore, it recreates a more realistic approach into not just setting up of plays but also in their on-court execution. The Become A Legend mode is the highlight of all new additions into PES 2009. Although it has been noted to have the same features as rival FIFA's Be A Pro mode, Konami claims that this mode is much different and expansive. Aside from having to focus on a single player in his efforts to gain professional career in football, you must specifically look into his input when on the field. Among the gameplay aspects and elements of Pro Evo Soccer 09 that also experienced enhancements in any form were the Master League and Player-Editor mode. Meanwhile, PES 2009 is noticeably more visually sound and realistic. The players have more resemblance with the actual players, which is probably something that will set it apart from competitors. Meanwhile, the defense animation and game's overall action sequence has been improved tremendously to create a more polished look. As for the overall gameplay, PES 09 has given more emphasis on the ball, which is really an essential factor in this game. The developers have worked on improving the ball so that it will elicit its own responses to any form of physical contact independently. Take notice as the ball hits either the surface or during wet conditions, and it will produce different physical responses and the same goes when it is hit by players. The question now is whether these improvements will be able to take Pro Evo Soccer 09 out of the slump, in which its predecessor has relegated it. Konami's efforts must be doubled now more than ever if it wants to survive the challenge that FIFA is placing right on its lap.
