The first thing you may wonder when you discover Squidoo is "what does the name mean?" Well, the idea of Squidoo is to imagine the worlds oceans as representing the information of the world wide web, and you are a giant Squid with a giant eyball who dives deep into the content bringing new knowledge to the surface. Squidoo strives to be rich in fresh internet content by giving free web sites (or Lenses as they call them) to everyone. Anyone can start a free Squidoo lens about almost any topic that they know about.

And would you believeyou can even make money from your lens? Without you spending a dime? Yep. The lens will have Google adsense ads at the top of the page and you get 50% of the royalties! So when people discover your lens that you created about widgets, the Adsense ads will be related to your widgets automatically! The ads are small and do not get in the way.
