Taking a step back when satellite and cable TV were the only two options a consumer could choose from for their television entertainment, new strategies were constantly being tested to win over new subscribers. From reduced fees, to promo bundles, to other bonuses, the cable and satellite providers have always been at war with one another to try and get the highest amount of subscribers. While the cable and satellite providers continued to get new customers through, a new competitor entered the television industry. In a brief period of time, the Internet started to make its mark on the industry of television entertainment. Granted, it all started with online videos, but it has evolved to way more than just that. With the help of companies like Satellite TV For PC, the exact same channels you can get in traditional cable and satellite packages cost only a fraction of the price. Fraction of the price doesn’t mean reduced monthly costs either; it means eliminating the monthly fees for good. Through utilizing the technologies that are on the Internet, innovators such as those at Satellite TV For PC give you the option of purchasing packages (having 3,000+ television and radio stations) for a one-time fee. These channels aren’t just a bunch of no-name UHF stations either; they consist of national and global television networks. There is a drawback to Internet TV though: it currently does not support HDTV. Currently known as the highest quality of television available, satellite and cable services have this advantage in the television industry. What’s interesting is a lot of people have been quite shocked about the prerequisites of HDTV in a negative manner. A false assumption people have is the idea of only needing to buy an HDTV television to watch shows in high definition. This is only the half of it though. Additionally, consumers must upgrade to HDTV-compliant cable/satellite packages and possibly buy additional cables and parts. On top of that, people learn that not all of their channels are compatible for HDTV. So you can understand, this usually comes as an unpleasant surprise to most people. The question is, where will the television entertainment trends lead? It really comes down to personal preference. If they are interested in getting the large quantity of stations for the one-time fee, they will probably want to grab the Satellite TV For PC-type solutions. Then again, if they want the highest quality of television available and are willing to pay the additional fees incurred, they will probably stick with the cable or satellite solution. One thing that is for certain though: Internet TV is evolving the way people can acquire and watch television.
