Why Bonuses are Important

By: J. Petersen

Bingo is a game that is enjoyed by millions of people around the world. The introduction of internet bingo in 1995 made the game available to anyone who has access to the internet and lives in a jurisdiction where online bingo playing is legal. There are many different factors that go into the online bingo playing experience, and one of them is bonuses.

Bonuses are a part of every online bingo playing site. There are different kinds of bonuses that serve different purposes from the point of view of the bingo operator. All bonuses represent a cost to the operator but they also generate a stream of revenue for the online playing business, which is what the bonuses are supposed to do.

Consider the welcome bonuses. This kind of bonus can be designed in different ways. There can be a free money component that gives the player free cards or free money, before or after the first deposit. The player is getting something for free, which is one of the reasons why the player stopped to look at the site in the first place. This free money bonus, with or without a deposit, attracts new players to the site, which is what it is supposed to do.

Deposit bonuses for new players are also a way of enticing players to join. Many sites double the first deposit of the player subject to the condition that the money can only be wagered at the site. This also serves to attract new players and generates revenue for the site. Some sites offer deposit bonuses with a lower percentage match for existing players. This lures the player into making a deposit before they might have planned to in order to take advantage of the bonus. Frequent deposit bonuses also keep the player playing at the site and not playing at other sites. Again, the bonuses protect the revenues of the site.
Some sites offer additional deposit bonuses for players who use their preferred method of payment.

Loyalty programs are designed to promote player loyalty to the site and to keep the player from joining another site. The bingo operator also protects his revenues with loyalty programs by rewarding players for gambling at the site. The more the player wagers, the more loyalty points the player earns.

All forms of bonuses represent a cost to the firm, but they also generate or protect revenues for the site. Bonuses represent free money to the player, so both gain.
