There seems to be countless new women’s magazines coming out each year, add that to the numerous magazines already on the market, and how do you decide which ones are the best value for your money? Considering that each month women can spend upwards of $20, which can total over $240 a year, choosing magazines that are worth your money is important. Many of the women’s magazines are geared towards a certain market segment of women, be sure to purchase magazines that are not just for women but geared towards your demographic as well.

If you are a teenager there are a number of magazines that you might enjoy. Up until about seven years ago, Seventeen and YM were the main ones in your category. Now, luckily for you, there is a surge of new teen magazines. Two of the most popular are Teen People and Teen Vogue. If you're not looking for advice on a relationship, Teen People might be your style. It has articles and photos on fashion and celebrities. Fashion conscious teens will probably love Teen Vogue. It features all the hottest new looks for every season. These magazines are also good if you are in your late teens.

Cosmopolitan it the must-read magazine for the 20-something professional woman. She can read about fashion advice, relationship advice and there is lots of gossip for the party-ers. Cosmo has been entertaining women for years and is still a great read. Jane is a bit more of an alternative magazine. It too focuses on fashion, but also offers articles on the stranger sides of celebrities. Their articles are fresh and interesting, and the music reviews might just lead you to a new favorite, but less known artist. Mademoiselle is still another good magazine-read, offering good articles, advice, and a lot of fashion.

Late 20-something’s might find Glamour the perfect magazine for them. Full of articles that are geared towards the professional working woman it has wonderful features as well, highlighting women’s issues around the world. Fashion advice is trendy and practical as well. In Style is another very popular magazine. Full of fabulous fashions and all the hottest designers, In Style is hip, trendy, and classical all at the same time. Vogue of course is the definitive guide to what’s in this season. While the fashion is often too pricey and trendy for the average person to buy, anyone who enjoys reading up on runway fashion and what the world’s most intriguing designers are up to will find this women’s magazine a must have.

This is just a brief overview of the magazines out there for women. Some are just for fun, while others can give you good advice on a variety of topics. Generally, they are pretty expensive if you pick them up from a newsstand. If you find a few that you like and want to continue reading, think about buying a subscription.
